Awkwafina Awkwafina, an American actor and singer, began with humorous rap tracks dealing with issues related to sexual and race. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood after she released a series of raps. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens her first encounter with the world of music was through the trumpet. Apart from classical music and jazz, the young Nora started to study hip-hop during her teens. While in college, she focused on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies as well as journalism. In a short period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were offered as well. After graduating, it wasn't until when she decided to turn her attention on music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success on the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014.
